There has been a lot of talk in JESC, and ESC, about countries who vote for another country because of a relationship between the 2 countries rather than how good the song is.
The voting patterns of each country has been analysed and the total number of votes each country has given to every other country have been calculated. The voting patterns have then been compared with the final position in the competition and the average difference between the vote and the final position has been calculated. A positive value means that the country generally gives the other country more votes than the final position would suggest. A negative value means that the country generally gives fewer points.
Care should be taken when interpreting the results of this analysis as one country regularly giving another country higher points does not necessarily mean that it is due to a relationship between the two countries as there are many other factors that can explain these results. For example, Greece and Cyprus both sang their songs in Greek and this could lead them to giving each other more votes than other countries, a similar situation occurs between Belgium and the Netherlands, and with Russia and Belarus; and a number of other languages used are similar.

For the purposes of this list Serbia and Montenegro has been counted with Serbia.
